Rugby vs CUS & Girls Hockey Training

After a very good night's sleep and another hearty breakfast we made our bus trip to the Catholic University School rugby grounds for our first rugby fixture vs CUS.

Today's fixture was a very hard fought match.  It was very hard to adapt to the style of play and the physicality.  The Irish boys were at the end of their season and their structures were well in place.  However as the game progressed, the Marist boys applied their game plan more effectively and improved during the second half.  Some good play led to the first try of the tour by captain, Riyadh Adam to end the game on a more positive note.

Although the result wasn't in our favour there was a lot to take out of this game for the upcoming fixtures and for the rest of the season.

At the after-match function, CUS selected Connor Van Wyk as their player of the match.  The captains also exchanged some gifts and we added some homegrown thank you's in Afrikaans and Zulu by Nathan Robinson and Mvelo Mthembu respectively.

The girls had an afternoon training session at the National Sports Centre with Irish player, Shane O'Donoghue.  Shane has 149 caps for Ireland and took part in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.  It was a very dynamic session with the girls having so much fun.  A massive thank you to Shane for putting up with our girls and their endless supply of energy, they learnt so much.

All is well, hope you are all enjoying our blog!  Please feel free to leave us some comments!!
